Collaborative Studio
Since 2010, UnionDocs has guided select groups of documentary fellows from a wide variety of backgrounds in our Collaborative Studio Program. From 2010 to 2015, the theme of the program, Living Los Sures, tasked fellows with creating works inspired by Diego Echeverria’s expansive documentary, Los Sures. To date, 48 artists have participated in Living Los Sures and the result is a rich collection of 30 compelling short documentaries that portray the important issues, characters, and stories present in the Southside of Williamsburg.
These shorts have found their way to a wide variety of audiences through outdoor screenings with the residents and film subjects of Los Sures, to festivals and venues such as MoMA’s Documentary Fortnight, BAM’s Cinemafest, Doc NYC, Harvard Film Archives, Brooklyn Film Festival, Morelia International Film Festival and more. The shorts continue to travel around the world, taking these stories from the Southside Williamsburg to the rest of the world.
